Topics: The importance, and great role, of search
engine friendly pages: rich content pages, doorway pages, gateway pages
etc...and their influence on web ranking.
As you know, Google crawler indexes a site and its
single pages by following internal hyperlinks. It starts by reviewing
and caching the start page (usually index.html) then it follows links
to internal pages. By designing a site full of RCP, you will be able to
build a website that is very relevant to the search results. This is
the most important fact about RCP: your website acquires Relevance for
Google, including the great benefit for your site's ranking.
The three most important
rules about RCP:
1. Each and every page MUST
contain unique, content-rich information.
2. There must not be two identical pages.
3. All pages, whose contents are different, must share the same general
topic.
How is a RCP built?
Forget about writing tons of text, images with ALT
attribute, links etc...RCP don't need to be large or have an eternal
repetition of your keywords.
Remember that RCP technique is a way to feed Google and acquire
relevance, it's NOT a public service for your users.
The best RCP's are light, w3c validated, and optimized; they're linked
from your home page (or from a specific-topic internal page) by a
keyword-rich-text link, or an Image with the correct ALT attribute.
Here's the identikit of the perfect RCP.
First, target your keywords, i.e. "iron ladders"
1. name it "iron-ladders.html" and put it in a
directory named "iron-ladders"
2. Set "iron ladders" in title tag
3. Iron ladders in meta tags "keywords" and "description"
4. no attributes in body tag
5. <h1>Iron Ladders</h1>
6. <h3>Iron Ladders -- (put a briefing subtitle)</h3>
7. Optionally put an image (<image src="....") named
"iron-ladders.jpg" and set the ALT attribute (alt="Iron ladders")
8. Put some text <h4> formatted. Try to keep high the "Iron
ladders" keyword density, but keep in mind that you must not repeat
this keyword too often. Remember to put "iron ladders" between
<strong></strong> or <b></b> tags. This will
tell Google that "iron ladders" has great importance in your page, and
this keyword will acquire relevance.
9. Put at least one link to your home page (so visitors that reach this
page can visit your whole website, of course..)
10. Link this page from your home page like this:
<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/iron-ladders/iron-ladders.html">iron
ladders</a>
What you should NOT do when
making a doorway page.
1. Create one single and pageb and rename it hundred of
times (spam for duplicated contents)
2. Use automatic browser redirection using either META or internal
Javascript (spam for a redirection that the viewer cannot
control)
White Fly says...
About doorway pages, many reported that now Google
penalize and erase from index this kind of page. That is something
true, since commonly many doorway pages are created just by duplicating
(with minor changes) one single webpage and renaming it hundreds of
times, and setting Meta tags to suddenly redirect user's browser.
: New
generation doorway
pages generators AVOID your website to be penalized. That's
because they don't duplicate pages, allowing webmasters to keep control
of pages' tags and appearance. Generated pages are not recognized as
duplicated or cloned. Browser redirection is not handled using META
tag, but with an internal encrypted (stealth) javascript code. Anyway,
best is not redirecting user's browser at all.
Doorway Pages generators
(see also: Seo:
equipment and skills)
They are softwares or scripts which allow user to create large numbers
of optimized webpages on your local machine (then you have to upload
them via FTP) or directly on your server / hosting. We don't suggest
one particular software here, but we invite you to stay away from free
ones. Free scripts usually add some unuseful parts to webpages' code
such as copyright notices, links, banners and so on. Always choose
those ones that give you complete control of the page. (especially the
crucial tags: TITLE, H(x) tags, Links).
